The Counseling Program at Wydown Middle School is designed to support students, teachers and families in a variety of ways. Counselors play a vital role in the areas of responsive services, individual and group counseling, as well as personal, academic and career advisement. How can the school Social Worker help students and families?
School social workers are here to help students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. They provide:
A caring adult to talk to during times of stress, worry, or sadness
Support for students coping with grief or loss
Help with friendships, conflict, or bullying
Guidance for managing big feelings like anger or frustration
Assistance with school attendance and staying on track
Support for families going through changes such as divorce, separation, or moving
Connections to community resources like food, clothing, housing, transportation, and healthcare
The social worker’s goal is to partner with families and make sure every child has the tools and support they need—both in school and at home.
How can you access your school social worker? Notify your child’s grade-level counselor or administrator if you would like to be referred for social work services.
