My name is Heather Puerto, and I teach 6th and 7th Grade Spanish at Wydown.  I have two daughters, Sofia (a first year Spanish teacher) and Lucy (a senior at CHS).  We live with our two pups, Winnie and Ruby, and 2 cats, Duke and Ruth.

This is my 23rd year teaching Spanish, all of those years at Wydown.  I spent a semester living in Mexico in college, and I also took a one-year leave from teaching, and took my daughters to live in Cozumel, Mexico (2016-2017). It was an amazing year, and allowed them to live near extended family and really become fluent in Spanish.

My favorite thing to do is travel.  I have taken students to Costa Rica (2006), Mexico (2012), Peru (2016), and Ecuador (2019).  I have also traveled to Spain and Cuba. I am looking forward to planning our next middle school international trip (details to come soon!) I also love coaching volleyball here at WMS!
