WHAT IS EXPLORAVISION?
ExploraVision is a science competition that goes beyond the typical student science competition and into what it takes to bring ideas to reality. Students pick a current technology, research it, envision what it might look like in 20 years, and describe the development steps, pros & cons, and obstacles. (http://www.exploravision.org/) At Wydown, ExploraVision is largely student-driven. Teachers work to mentor students in their work, questioning them to help refine their ideas and helping them to meet deadlines. In 2014, 8th graders Elizabeth Klorer and Macy Mills earned one of 500 National Honorable Mention Awards for their vision of the SHARP Music Stand. The project deadline is typically in late January.
