The book/movie The Hate U Give, written by Angie Thomas, teaches a powerful lesson about how none of us are a single story. On Thursday, May 2, from 7-9 p.m., School District of Clayton parents are invited to participate in a conversation and reflection on our personal socialization that all too often creates a single story, one that diminishes the richness of our humanity. Dr. Phil Hunsberger, co-owner and senior facilitator of Educational Equity Consultants, will facilitate a conversation hosted by Glenridge Elementary that will enrich our understanding of our own sense of identity and as well - the identity of others. Ultimately, our combined efforts will strengthen the manner in which we raise our own children - children who will be our future global citizens in a world filled with the beauty of diversity.
Mark your calendars and plan to attend on May 2 at 7 p.m. at Glenridge, 7447 Wellington Way. Reading The Hate U Give or viewing the movie prior to this event would be helpful but is not necessary. Click here to RSVP.
