    Dear Eighth-Graders and Families,

On behalf of the faculty and staff I am pleased to welcome you to Clayton High School. Very soon you will embark on a four-year journey with us as the Class of 2022, and I am certain that you will have an outstanding experience. We have a gifted faculty, a rigorous curriculum and we offer numerous sports and activities to engage students outside the classroom. At CHS you will have the opportunity to take an outstanding array of courses while participating in activities that challenge the body and mind. You will be joining a community of learners with a legacy of excellence that stretches back more than 100 years. At times the whole experience can seem a bit overwhelming. We have created this guide to help make the transition from middle school to high school a little easier. Please know that we are here to help and do not be afraid to reach out to us. The new school year will be here before you know it, and we look forward to welcoming you soon.

    With Greyhound Pride,

    Dr. Dan Gutchewsky

It is my pleasure to welcome the Class of 2022 to Clayton High School. Your first year of high school is an exciting time, but it can also be challenging and a bit scary. The elementary and middle schools have prepared you for this next step, which is to explore new subjects, get involved in your school and community and to investigate different interests and career pathways. Going to high school is a big transition and there are many changes from middle school. Your freshman year is one of the most important years you’ll experience because it is the foundation for everything to come, so we have activities planned starting in January to help you get ready and excited about coming to CHS.

I, and the entire Clayton High School faculty and staff, am here to help you reach your goals and to have a wonderful year.

    Warm regards,

    Homer Turner
    School Counselor
