Clayton Students Seek to Provide Financial Advice in Troubled EconomyThree Clayton High School students—Varun Chakravarthy, David Behrend, and Hassan Hossayrami—are hosting a financial informational night called “Finances for Life in this Troubled Economy.” The evening will provide education for people on their personal finances in the current economic situation. Leading these sessions will be professionals in the field of economics and financial planning as well as financial aid advisors from Washington University.
The evening will start in the Clayton High School commons on Wednesday, October 5, at 6:30 p.m. and will conclude no later than 9:00 p.m. Break-out sessions will be held after a short general assembly with the experts. These break-out sessions will include an economist from the Federal Reserve, a financial planner from Wells Fargo and the Moneta Group, financial-aid advisors from Washington University, and several other financial professionals.
This night is held as a part of DECA’s Financial Literacy Promotion Project (FLPP), which is meant to provide an opportunity for students to promote financial literacy within their community. DECA defines financial literacy as being “able to confidently read, analyze, and manage their personal finances to lead more secure and satisfying lives.”
DECA is a non-for-profit student organization that “enhances the preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular programs that integrate into classroom instruction, applying learning in the context of business, connecting to business and the community and promoting competition”
