Parent Speaker Series
-
The School District of Clayton recognizes the integral role that parents play in the academic and personal lives of their children. Learning doesn’t stop when school dismisses each day; parents are critical to the continuation of their children’s learning outside of the District’s classrooms. That's why the District created its Parent Speaker Series in 2017. In its inaugural year, hundreds of District parents attended a wide variety of sessions, from “Kids, Parents & Power Struggles” to “A Parent’s Guide to Social Media.”
This year's Speaker Series will focus on how we can teach our children to muster the strength to persevere when times are most trying. Dr. Tim Bono, Washington University faculty member, author and expert on psychological health and happiness, will lead us in discussions on resilience as a life skill, misconceptions about self-esteem and practical strategies you can use to help your child develop resilience in the face of adversity.
