My name is Señora Amy Dean, and I am delighted to be your Spanish teacher at CHS. I was privileged to have already taught many of you at Wydown.
I live in Rock Hill with my husband Patrick, my three daughters (Stella, Gloria, and June), and our two kittens, Louis Tulley and Vinz Clortho. In my free time, I love to knit, run, cook, and travel. (As you can tell by the cats’ names, I really love Ghostbusters.)
I have lived in Mexico and traveled throughout Central America and the Caribbean. More recently, I participated in a teacher program in Ecuador and volunteered with Global Brigades in Honduras.
My biggest goal for this class for you is to learn to communicate meaningfully in Spanish. Part of your success in our class depends on your willingness to jump in, make mistakes, and to learn from them. I expect you to support your classmates in this as well. We are a team.
It's OK if you don't understand everything. However, the more risks you take with the language, the easier it will get. This class is 90-95% in Spanish, and we will hold each other accountable for that.
