What is CLAYTON360?
CLAYTON360 is a process that will gather feedback over the next five months to articulate and refine the District’s mission, vision and core values.
Who is leading this process?
CLAYTON360 is being lead by a team of community members, parents, staff, administrators and students. They will rely on extensive participation from our entire community to inform decisions and guide their work as they work.
What is the purpose?
CLAYTON360 will allow the entire School District of Clayton community to have thoughtful conversation about who we are (mission), what we want to be (vision) and what are the fundamental ideals we embrace as we do our work (core values). The mission, vision and core values guide the work of the District and Board of Education.
Why now?
This work represents phase one of a two-year Long Range Planning Process. Phase two (slated for the 2012-2013 school year) will identify long-range District and Board goals within the context of our refined mission/vision/core values and a strategic plan for achieving those goals. Plus, it’s been more than fifteen years since the District’s had a discussion about mission, vision and core values.
What’s the timeline?
The Visioning Committee is working toward the goal of presenting a summary of their work, including drafts of the mission/vision/core values, to the Board of Education on June 13, 2012. The new M | V | CV will then again be circulated for community feedback and approved by the Board in the fall.
How can I participate?
CLAYTON360 will include a number of opportunities for the Clayton entire community to provide both formal and informal input and feedback. There will be focus groups, one-on-one interviews, parent surveys, staff surveys, community surveys and town-hall style meetings.
How are you defining mission, vision and core values for the purpose of this process?- Mission – Our mission statement defines why we are here. It is a present-oriented statement of what we do.
- Vision – Our vision defines what we want to become. It is a future-oriented statement that District initiatives address.
- Core Values – The principles that guide our internal conduct as well as our relationship with the external world. Core values are usually summarized in the mission statement and provide guidance for implementing mission/vision.
