CHS Dance Marathon Raises over $22,000 for Charity

During the past few months, CHS seniors Abigail Mann and James Marsden, as well as their Executive Committee, have been working for the third year in a row with the organization Dance Marathon. The goal of this organization is to have a series of small fundraising activities throughout the course of the year, which then culminate in a Dance Marathon.

Even COVID-19 couldn't stop CHS students from making this incredible event happen. For three hours students had a great time on Adzick Field with games, music, participating in choreographed dances, food, raffles, a photo booth and other activities. A parent described it as a "carnival." Face coverings were worn and social distancing was practiced to ensure everyone had fun while remaining safe.

In the end, over $22,000 was raised! Of that, 100-percent will go directly to local Children's Miracle Network Hospitals!

"Given the current circumstances and climate, I can't tell you how proud I am of these young adults for accomplishing so much with so many challenges facing them," said Justin Hildebrand CHS business teacher who oversees these students. "The event this year was spectacular and every student involved deserves a heartfelt congratulations for a job well done!"

"Everyone that supported this amazing cause and event is greatly appreciated," added Hildebrand. "We definitely want to give a special shout-out to the CHS custodial staff for a great set-up and teardown the night of the event, T'Shon Young, Steve Hutson and Dr. Gutchewsky for helping to make the event happen, Dr. Doherty for being there to help move tables and show off his pitching arm and Justin Seiwell for taking pictures and video, which we hope to use to promote this amazing organization for years to come."
