District Students Host and Participate in Virtual Talent Show Fundraiser
Meramec student Tucker Abeles and Wydown student Sam Abeles are brothers that share a passion for helping others.
For the past eight years, Sam and Tucker have tirelessly worked a lemonade stand each summer in Clayton - which has raised more than $8,000 for various charities. Because they have family members who have been affected by cancer, they started donating all their proceeds to Pedal the Cause. For four years, they have been participating in the Ameren Kids Challenge and have been designating their lemonade stand funds to go directly to support Pedal the Cause.
Pedal the Cause is a non-profit organization that raises money to fund cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital. It's goal is to create a world without cancer.
Because of COVID-19, Sam and Tucker were unable to have a lemonade stand this year. They didn't let that stop their passion for giving so they came up with different fundraising idea, a virtual talent show.
Sam and Tucker sent personalized emails to all their elementary and middle school friends asking them to showcase their talents to the Clayton community with this unique fundraiser. It was held through Zoom on August 22, 2020 and the talented participants included gymnasts, pianists, guitarist, ukuleles and many others. Click here to watch the entire show.
These Clayton students are happy to report their virtual talent show raised $750 for Pedal the Cause! Way to go Sam and Tucker and an extra special thank you to the Clayton students who participated and make this event possible:
