CHS Dance Marathon Raises over $29,000 for Charity

The Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Dance Marathon was back at CHS on Feb. 28. This nationwide event is held on over 400 campuses and our high school students were excited to continue the tradition at CHS. Miracle Network Dance Marathon is a movement benefitting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a non-profit organization that raises funds and awareness for more than 170 pediatric hospitals across North America.

An entire year has been spent on fundraising for this event and culminated with the four-hour long Dance Marathon in Stuber Gym. Activites included dancing, games, raffles, catered food and stories from patients and their families.

Numerous students worked tirelessly over the last year to raise funds and awareness for children’s pediatric hospitals in St. Louis. They have put on a series of mini events, such as donut drives and cycle classes, as well as partnered with local businesses in sponsorships to work towards the fundraising goal of $20,000.

Under the guidance of CHS business teacher Justin Hildebrand, the entirely student-run organization put together and ran an amazing evening that ended with a revealing of the money raised. The students raised over $29,000 which was $9,000 more than their goal! All of this money is being donated to St. Louis Children’s Hospital and SSM Cardinal Glennon.

"I was really proud of our kids, and seeing their excitement at being able to help others in need was very inspiring," said CHS Principal Dan Gutchewsky. "They have certainly set the bar high for next year."
