CHS Journalism Students Learn about News Beyond the Classroom
Clayton High School (CHS) Journalism students went from learning in the classroom to learning in the newsroom.
Students from the Globe and the Greyhound News Network had an opportunity to tour KSDK, the St. Louis Post Dispatch and St. Louis Public Radio newsrooms. Kay Quinn, CHS parent and a KSDK news anchor, Ben Hochman, CHS alumnus and a sports columnist for the St. Louis Post Dispatch and Shula Neuman, CHS alumna and an executive editor for the St. Louis Public Radio, led the tours and talked about their careers.
The students learned about how their work on the CHS Globe (the print and digital news source) and the Greyhound News Network (the broadcast news network) could translate into pursuing a career in the print and/or broadcast journalism realm.
It was an educational day well-spent and these future journalists asked great questions, absorbed first-hand knowledge and certainly enjoyed their time in these area newsrooms.
