CHS Students take the Stage at the 2020 Missouri Junior Thespian Conference
The CHS Theatre students attended the 2020 Missouri Junior Thespian Conference in Kansas City, MO on Jan. 10.
Students performed, collaborated and received constructive feedback for the Individual Event (IE) categories. Iman Jamison participated in the IE for “Solo Musical”. Mason Sharon, Will Winings and Erin Koc participated in the IE for “Group Acting”. Gen Hoelscher and Katie Aiello participated in the IE for “Duet Acting”. These categories allow students the opportunity to show off their craft and receive constructive feedback from professionals. In addition, Iman Jamison and Mason Sharon auditioned for college scholarships at the conference. Sam Osbourne, a CHS student, received the honor of stage managing this year’s all-state show, “A Streetcar Named Desire”, created by Tennessee Williams.
Theatrical professionals also ran workshops in which students could pick up a new skill or flex their creative muscles. A few of the workshops offered this year varied from Hamilton Choreography and Acting Shakespeare to Production Budgeting and Prop Building. Past workshops from previous conferences have included Comedy Improv, Show Lighting, Musical Theatre Dance and other categories.
Those whose performances received a “Superior Rating” qualified to enter in the International Thespian Festival in Nebraska. Stay tuned for the results of the competition!
