WMS Students Participate in Final Round of State National History Day Contest
Congratulations to WMS eighth graders Alex Cohen and Delia Zacks and seventh grader Louisa Blackmoore who recently participated in the final round of the state National History Day (NHD) contest.
NHD offers year-long academic programs that engage over half a million middle- and high-school students around the world annually in conducting original research on historical topics of interest. The largest NHD program is the National History Day Contest that encourages more than half a million students around the world to conduct historical research on a topic of their choice. Students enter these projects at the local and affiliate levels, with top students advancing to the National Contest at the University of Maryland at College Park.
Alex and Delia advanced with their exhibit on "Unlocking the Rosetta Stone" and Louisa advanced in the individual performance with "The Remarkable Ruby" and received a special Women's History Award for her performance.
Louisa Blackmore has advanced to the virtual national competition while Deila and Alex made it to the second round of the state competition.
