Junior Earns Gold, Silver Medals at World Kungfu Championships
Clayton High School junior Alex Zhang made a successful debut as a member of the U.S. National Traditional Wushu Team when he competed at the 8th World Kungfu Championships held in June in Emeishan, China. Alex earned a Gold Medal in the ChaQuan competition and a Silver Medal in the Sword competition.
This year’s three-day World Kungfu Championships drew a record number of participants - 5,246 - from 46 foreign teams and 276 domestic Chinese teams. USA was the biggest foreign team, with a delegation of 526 people and 254 athletes competing and topping the award charts with 53 Gold Medals.
