    Dr. Dan Gutchewsky has been an administrator with the School District of Clayton since the 2000-2001 school year. Dr. Gutchewsky was named interim principal of Clayton High School in the fall of 2012 and principal in January 2013. He also has served the District as Dean of Students at Clayton High School, Assistant Principal at Wydown Middle School, Assistant Principal at Clayton High School and Associate Principal at Clayton High School. Prior to coming to Clayton, Dr. Gutchewsky taught science at Lindbergh High School for six years. Dr. Gutchewsky graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Science Education. He earned his Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Southern Illinois University- Edwardsville in 2002. Dr. Gutchewsky completed his doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy at Vanderbilt University in 2011.

    During his years in education, Dr. Gutchewsky has enjoyed working with students in a variety of capacities both inside and outside the classroom. He coached football for five years and women’s track and field for seven years. In addition, he served as a sponsor of the Metropolitan Student Leadership Program and CHS STUGO, and he currently serves on the board of the non-profit organization Music Matters.

    Outside of school, Dr. Gutchewsky enjoys spending time with his wife of 14 years and their five-year-old son. His hobbies include traveling, hiking and fly-fishing. 

    luhningRyan Luhning, Assistant Principal

    This is Dr. Luhning's12th year in the School District of Clayton.  Dr. Luhning has served as Assistant Principal of Clayton High School since the 2013-2014 school year.  Prior to this he served as the high school’s administrative intern and the boys’ basketball coach along with being the District’s substitute teacher coordinator.  
    Dr. Luhning has earned a Doctor of Education degree through Maryville University, a Master of Arts in School Administration through Lindenwood University, a Master of Arts in Teaching through Webster University, and a Bachelor of Science in Education through the University of Missouri St. Louis.

    Dr. Luhning and his wife, Cynthia, have two boys—Troy attends Wydown Middle School and Travis attends Meremac Elementary.

    danskey  Dr. Janelle Danskey, Assistant Principal

     Dr. Janelle Danskey is new to Clayton High School.  Prior to her role as Assistant Principal at Clayton, Dr. Danskey worked for six years  as an  Assistant Principal, two years as a Dean of Students, and five years as a Social Studies Teacher in the Hillsboro School District  near Portland,  Oregon. Dr. Danskey completed her Doctorate in Education at the University of Portland.  She earned both her Master's  degree in Teaching and  Bachelor of Arts in History at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.
     Outside of school, Dr. Danskey enjoys spending time with family, taking salsa dance lessons, and watching roller derby.

    Bob Bone has been the Athletic Director at Clayton High School since the 2006-2007 school year.

    Before coming to Clayton, Mr. Bone spent the previous 21 years at Collinsville High School in Illinois, where he served as the Athletic Director and Basketball Coach for 20 years. Mr. Bone served as an Assistant Principal during his last year in Collinsville. As an Athletic Director, Bone was recognized as Illinois Class AA Outstanding AD in 1999-2000 and represented Southern Illinois on the IHSA Athletic Administrator Advisory Committee and Legislative Commission. During his 20 years of coaching, Collinsville won 10 Southwest Conference Championships, 13 IHSA Regional Championships, and in the 1990s, they spent time as the winningest high school basketball program in America.

    Prior to Collinsville, Mr. Bone was the basketball coach and Athletic Director at East Central College, as well as an assistant basketball coach at both St. Louis University and Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. Mr. Bone received his B.A. from the University of Missouri-St Louis, where he was a three-time basketball All-American, his M.S. from SIU-Carbondale and his Administrative Certification from SIU-Edwardsville. Mr. Bone is a member of both the UMSL and Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame and is currently serving as President of the Suburban Conference.

    NelkeCarolyn Blair, Counseling Department Chair

    I am Carolyn Blair, Counseling Department Chair at CHS. I am pleased to present an amazing team of counselors and staff for your support here at CHS.

    I am one of the College Counselors in the office, (I work with students with the last names A-J). I have spent many years in the field of education. After working in college admissions while completing a Masters in Counseling a UM-St. Louis, I began college counseling at St. Louis University High School in 1997. I continue to serve on numerous boards and committees within the field of college counseling. I have served on the board for ACT for the last 8 years, and am currently secretary of the board. I have had many roles in the past 12 years with the Missouri Association of college Admission Counselors, including Chair of the Human Relations Committee, Assembly Delegate to the National Association of College Admissions Counselors, Professional Development Committee. I sit on the Advisory Board for Miami University and University of Indiana as well as having served the University of Missouri-Kansas City as advisory council for Kansas City Public School's college counseling curriculum. I am an active member of/ and school representative to the College Board. I spend my summers volunteering at College Summit, a college preparatory workshop for low income students.
    We in the counseling department hope to provide assistance and guidance for all students as they are developing the knowledge and skills needed to be lifelong learners and make successful contribution to the local, national, and global

    NelkeCarroll Lehnhoff-Bell, Director of Learning Support

    Mrs.Lehnhoff-Bell notes it’s her good fortune to serve as Clayton High School’sDirector of Learning Support. She finds it a pleasure spending her days working with such talented students, brilliant teachers, and loving parents in an effort to meet the individual needs of students as they work toward academic success.

    Prior to serving as Director of Learning Support, she was a reading specialist and instructional coach in the high school for two years. In her previous district, where she taught for 13 years, she was involved at both the elementary school and middle school levels, as an elementary teacher as well as a middle school communication arts teacher.
    Ms. Lehnhoff-Bell graduated from Fontbonne University, where she studied Special Education. She holds a master degree in Elementary Education and is Nationally Board Certified in Language Arts, and also obtained her reading certificate.

    In her current position, she oversees the Learning Center. Additionally, she facilitates theStudent Support Team. She also serves on the African American Achievement committee, building professional development committee, and the leadership council.

    Outside of school,she serves on the board of The Northside Workshop, a non-profit art space dedicated to addressing cultural and community issues in North Saint Louis, whose programming focuses on incorporating socially engaged art and education with the goal of fostering social progressi n North Saint Louis communities. She can also be found cheering on the Mizzou Tigers and the Saint Louis Rams. Or you may find her biking and walking aroundSt. Louis neighborhoods with her husband and golden retriever.

    Ms. Lehnhoff-Bell believes being a part of the village that helps raise a child is a gift, and so she promises to do all that she can to support your child through his/her high school experience.
