Healthy Tips as the Flu Season Approaches
Good Ways to Stop the Spread of Germs- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze OR if you do not have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve, not your hands.
- Put your used tissue into the waste basket.
- After coughing or sneezing, always clean your hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand cleaner.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Do not share utensils, drinking glasses, towels or other personal items.
Ways to Stay Healthy- Talk to your Doctor about the flu vaccine.
- Clean your hands often.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick, if possible.
Clayton School District Illness GuidelinesFever
Students with 100 degree Fahrenheit or above should not attend school. Students must be fever-free for 24 hours without the aid of medication before they may return to school.Sore Throat
If a student is tested for a strep infection, student should not return to school until the results are known. If culture is positive for strep, student may return to school after 24 hours of antibiotics if no fever is present.Runny Nose
If the drainage is not clear and is profuse, the student should remain at home until symptoms improve.Cough
A cough following a cold is not necessarily contagious and may be prolonged. If the cough is croupy or productive, you may want to consider keeping the student at home until symptoms improve.
