Hello, my name is Gwen Kennerly and I am the Spanish instructor at Glenridge Elementary School. I have been teaching Spanish at the elementary level since 1993 and have been at Glenridge since 2001.  I earned my BA at SLU and I hold a Master's degree in the field of Communications with an emphasis in Spanish from Webster University.  I continue to enjoy opportunities to further my education in the field of second language acquisition, assessment, technology and reflective teaching practices.
I am a native to St. Louis and live in South City with my husband Ed and my daughter Isla.  I love gardening, crafting and cooking.  I am so excited to get to know the first grade students and new Glenridge students and I look forward to an exciting year of fun with Spanish.
I strongly recommend you visit our classroom to see students living and breathing the Spanish language and culture.  Please feel free to contact me at the web address or phone number below if you would like to observe, volunteer, or ask questions.
On this website you will find a curriculum overview for Spanish, grades 1st through 5th, internet links for games, culture and second language acquisition as well as monthly Spanish homework, student work and songs we sing in class.
