• Daily Snacks

Third graders will eat lunch from12:30-12:50.  Therefore we will allow time each morning for the children to have a snack that they bring from home.

We are encouraging healthy snacks that are easy to transport, easy to eat and don’t make a mess.  Some suggestions are:
                -apples,
                -grapes,
                -carrots,
                -string cheese,
                -crackers, and
                -pretzels.

Please make sure that snacks are peanut/tree nut free and that your child can easily eat and clean up after the snack without a mess.  We will not allow candy or cookies as snacks.

    Birthday Celebrations
Our students’ birthdays are recognized during morning announcements.  Parents who would like to provide birthday treats are expected to adhere to the district Food Allergy Management Policy.  No peanuts, tree nuts or products of peanuts or tree nuts are permitted in elementary school classrooms.  In an effort to ensure a safe and healthy experience for all, only store bought snacks/treats clearly labeled with ingredients are permitted.

Below is some specific, concise birthday treat information relating to our classroom:
--Some treats are labeled with disclaimers about trace amounts of peanuts or tree nuts or processed in factories with peanuts or tree nuts.  For this reason, parents of a child with a life threatening food allergy may provide a safe alternative treat, or the teacher will provide a popsicle for the child.

--Birthday treats should be arranged with your child's teacher at least three days in advance and dropped by 9:00 a.m. on the day agreed upon to ensure adequate time for the birthday celebration.

--Please bring enough birthday treats for your child's class. (Ms. Johnson-20, Mrs. Williams-20, Mrs. Sample-19)

--Our classroom birthday celebrations happen at the end of the school day.

Thank you for supporting celebrating with our children in a safe and positive manner.

Thanks, also, for your cooperation with healthy, happy snacking!
