Meramec Elementary is proud of its rich history; it is not unusual to find several generations of families represented among the school population. Since 1939, Meramec Elementary has offered children an education with high academic standards in a student-centered, diverse school environment. Meramec is a school where students are valued for their individuality. Every student is recognized for their unique strengths and talents and is encouraged to aspire to and achieve their goals.

The Meramec community is well known as a place where students, staff, administration, parents and community members work together in harmony. Parent involvement is a hallmark of Meramec. The Meramec Parent - Teacher Organization (PTO) partners with the school in support of building a cohesive school community through a wide variety of enriched experiences over the course of each school year.  At Meramec, parents, teachers and students collectively embrace the "Meramec Five" - responsibility, respect, kindness, cooperation and safety - as core values that are modeled, taught and practiced throughout the school year.  Students know "The Golden Rule" and strive to ensure that every child has a strong sense of belonging within the learning community.  It is often said that "magical memories are made at Meramec."
