Mr. Robert Laux

Rob Laux returns to Clayton High School Swimming, previously serving as Head Coach for the Boys (2021-present, 2012-2014), and for the Girls (2003-04, 2004-05). Coach Laux brings 35+ years of coaching experience to the deck, coaching summer league, high school, college, but primarily through USA Swimming. He has had the privilege of coaching athletes from beginners, through High School State Championships, Zones, Sectionals, NCSA/Junior Nationals and Olympic Trials. Following 15 years with Rockwood Swim Club, he has coached at FAST since 2012, and primarily works with seniors groups and National.

Coach Laux promotes team inclusiveness, ensuring that each athlete is a valued and respected member of the team, and that the team’s success is dependent on each individual. While performing at a high level is always kept in sight, he has been most moved by the character and sportsmanship his Clayton athletes have displayed to each other and their competitors. 

Coach Laux has been teaching physics at Clayton High School since 2001. He is married and has two children.

Mr. Andrew M. Long, Assistant Coach

Andrew M. Long is new to the CHS swim coaching staff. He grew up swimming in Colorado and attended Regis Jesuit High School, where he contributed to four state titles and nationally ranked teams. He went on to swim at Saint Louis University from 2000 to 2004, where he completed degrees in history and theology. For 19 years, Coach Long worked as an educator in K–12 schools, including 10 years in administrative roles.

Coach Long is committed to creating a positive and inclusive team culture where every athlete feels valued, respected, and challenged to grow. He believes that athletic success is built not only through hard work and goal-setting but also through perseverance, sportsmanship, and mutual support. By fostering an environment where athletes can take risks, push their limits, and uplift one another, Coach Long aims to develop confident, resilient individuals whose growth in the pool translates to lifelong personal strength and character.

Mr. David Molina, Dive Coach

David Molina joined the Clayton High School Diving coaching staff in Fall 2025, bringing experience as both an athlete and a coach at the international and collegiate levels. Originally from Madrid, Spain, David dove for 15 years and competed as a member of the Spanish National Team in multiple international competitions.

After moving to the United States, David attended Lindenwood University, where he earned a degree in Sport Management while continuing to compete at the collegiate level. He was fortunate to earn NCAA Division II All-American honors, conference championships, and medals at the Division I level. These experiences have helped him understand the value of dedication, perseverance, and teamwork.

In addition to coaching at Clayton High School, David works with Clayton Diving Alliance, training athletes from beginner lessons to national team members. He is passionate about fostering an encouraging and disciplined environment where divers can challenge themselves and grow both as athletes and as individuals.
