A.
Office Hours
The Glenridge School office is open from 7:30 a.m.
until 4:30 p.m.
B.
School Day
School begins at 8:40 a.m. and is dismissed at 3:30
p.m. The first bell rings at 8:30 a.m. and the second bell at 8:40 a.m. Children should arrive at school as close to 8:30 a.m. as
possible. Students are considered tardy if they arrive after 8:40 a.m.
It
is important for students to arrive in the classroom before
the second bell at 8:40 a.m. Aside from recording the attendance and
taking the lunch count at that time, classroom teachers explain the
daily plans, special instructions/information are given, notices from
the office are announced throughout the building, etc.
Understandably, if a student is not present to receive this daily
information his/her school day will begin with added confusion.
In
case of inclement weather, a green flag hangs on each entry door. If
the green flag is up when children arrive at school, they may wait in
the Oxford foyer until 8:30 a.m. (If it is raining and the green
flag is not up, children may come in to the Oxford foyer)
C.
Snow Day/School Closing
In the event of extreme weather, a decision will be
made by the superintendent (1) to hold school as usual, (2) to go on
a "snow schedule", or (3) to close school for the day. "Snow
schedule" means that schools will open and close as follows:
All
elementary schools 8:40 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Wydown Middle School 8:30 a.m. - 3:12 p.m.
Clayton High School 8:20 a.m. - 3:01 p.m.
If
school is cancelled or a "snow schedule" is called, the announcement
will be made on the following radio stations: KMOX (1120 AM), KTRS
(550 AM), KMJM (104.9 FM), KATZ (100.3 FM and 1600 AM), WIL (92.3
FM), WRTH (1430 AM), and KYKY (98.1 FM). Closings will also be
announced on the following TV stations: KSDK (5), KMOV (4), and KDNL
(30), KTVI (2). Contacting the administration building, 314-854-6000,
is still another source of information early in the morning.
News
of school closings may also be accessed by calling the St. Louis
POST-DISPATCH PostLine. To use PostLine, dial 923-2323 and enter the
number 8606 at the prompt.
On a snow schedule day, school will begin one hour late but dismiss at the regular time. On "snow schedule" days, buses for voluntary transfer children will run on the normal schedule. The Glenridge Children's Center (GCC) will be open with regular hours on a "snow schedule" day. The GCC will be closed when school is cancelled.
