Buddy Classes Use Cup Stacking to Learn About Coding
The first- and fourth-grade buddies in Captain Elementary Teachers Jillian McCallister and Kimberly Beelman’s classes welcomed a special visitor on Wednesday, Dec. 5, in celebration of Computer Science Education Week. Pixel Press Creative Director and Captain parent James Macanufo led the classes in an unplugged coding activity. Working with their buddies, the Captain students developed the steps needed to complete a cup stacking exercise.
Captain students joined their peers around the world in taking part in coding activities this week in conjunction with the Hour of Code and Computer Science Education Week. These activities are getting students excited about coding and preparing them for the increasing amount of computer science careers that will be available to them in the future.
