WMS and CHS Chess Teams Break Records at Tournament

The Wydown Middle School and Clayton High School chess teams were successful at their tournaments at the Iconic Center for Global Citizenship on the campus of Saint Louis University on March 5. This was the first time both teams had competed in person since February of 2020.

The CHS team won 29 out of 36 matches on their way to capturing the First Place Trophy. Since the team began competitive league play in 1991, never before had every member of the team earned a trophy. The WMS team captured the first place trophy for the tournament in the middle school and junior high division.
