WMS Seventh- and Eighth-Grade Chess Team Captures Second Straight Championship
On Wednesday, May 1, the results of the 2019 Gateway Chess League Middle School Championships were published. For the second straight year, the Wydown seventh- and eighth-grade team claimed the title of top chess team in their division.The Wydown team bested all comers in a grueling seven-week tournament and once again brought home the first place trophy.
In individual competition, four WMS students placed in the top five for their grade level. Elliott Kennedy and Samuel Rosenzweig finished third and fourth, respectively, among all eighth-graders, and Prakash Ramakrishnan and Leo Taghert finished first and fourth among all seventh-graders.
