Clayton Achieves Excellence in Annual Assessment Report

Each year, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) releases the statewide Annual Performance Reports (APRs). These scores measure the progress districts are making toward meeting the Standards and Indicators identified in the sixth version of the Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP 6).

In the most recent report, the School District of Clayton earned a score of 94.5 percent. This score is the highest earned by the District since DESE began using the MSIP 6 model in 2022.

“We are proud of our strong APR score, as it reflects the rich and rigorous academic experience our students receive in Clayton,” said Superintendent Dr. Nisha Patel.

The 2024 APR academic data are based on the 2023-24 MAP testing cycle. The APR includes points for both performance and continuous improvement standards.

This year’s report shows that the District maintained its strong performance, earning 100% of the allowed points in nearly all areas. Additionally, the report highlighted significant gains across the majority of assessed areas, reinforcing the District’s commitment to continuous improvement.

At the March 4 Board of Education meeting, Dr. Milena Garganigo, assistant superintendent of teaching and learning, and Robyn Haug, director of assessment and professional learning, presented the District’s annual assessment report. Together with building principals, they answered questions about the data and shared examples of how schools are innovating and collaborating to support students.

Following the presentation, Lucia Lerna, high school senior and student representative to the Board of Education, commended the District on its efforts to personalize the educational experience for students and shared how the extra support she received in elementary school positively impacted her academic journey.

“Being able to see and identify the students and their needs is something that is so important,” she said. “As someone who really did struggle with reading…being able to have that focused help really made me grow to love it.”
