Dr. Catherine Pautsch has been selected to serve as an assistant principal at Wydown Middle School starting in the 2023-2024 school year. She currently serves as an assistant principal and Dean of Students and Instruction at Brittany Woods Middle School in The School District of University City.

“I’m very excited to have Dr. Pautsch join our team,” explained WMS Principal Dr. Jamie Jordan. “Throughout the interview process her commitment to work hard to achieve what is right for all children was evident. Her skills and experience, especially her background in student voice and socio-emotional learning, will complete our administrative team and bring new insight to our Wydown community.”

For the past five years, Dr. Pautsch has served students in The School District of University City.. Whether during her time as a Spanish teacher, working for the School of Social Justice, serving as an education and career pathway coordinator or assisting on education research projects, Dr. Pautsch has spent her time working with and for students. Dr. Pautsch received her doctoral degree in educational leadership and policy analysis from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  She also holds both a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a K-12 Principal Certification.

“The middle school years are incredibly important as kids begin to self-actualize, expand their community, and question the world around them,” said Dr. Pautsch. “I am elated to join the Wydown team to collaborate with students, staff, and families to continue to create real world opportunities that tap into kids’ innate curiosity, empower student voice, and build a sense of belonging for all. In every interaction thus far with Wydown students, staff, and families, I have witnessed the Clayton Profile of a Graduate living, breathing, and driving the work. I am thrilled to be a part of such an intentional and thoughtful community that is always seeking ways to grow.”

Dr. Pautsch will officially begin her work at Wydown on July 1.
