Math Team Has Strong Showing at Annual Competition
Clayton High School students displayed their prowess in mathematics in this year’s Excellence in Mathematics Contest hosted by St. Louis Community College at Forest Park. For more than 40 years, high school students across the region have been taking part in the contest, which features a one-hour, 20-question, no calculator exam in which points are deducted for incorrect responses.
For earning the best score among seniors in the small school division, CHS senior Lenny Chen received a $1,000 scholarship. Additionally, Lenny and fellow CHS senior Aaron Zoll took second place in the team competition despite being a two-person team among other teams of four.
The CHS freshman team took first place in their grade-level competition, with Jessie Lin earning first place individually.
