CHS Students Bring Home Awards from Greater St. Louis Science Fair

Congrats to CHS students Rucha Kelkar, Aaradhya Diwan, Jessie Lin, Samuel Fehr and John Wang. These individuals participated in and won a number of awards from the Greater St. Louis Science Fair.

 

For more than 70 years, the Science Fair has been an amazing science catalyst for students in kindergarten through high school. Under the leadership of the Academy, hundreds of educators, scientists and science advocates work year-round to bring science inquiry to life for more than 80,000 students in the St. Louis area participating each year in the Science Fair. 

 

Rucha Kelkar - CHS junior

Her project: The Effect of Nicotine on Bacteria Growth

Won the following awards in the Honors Division

  • $1,000 Bayer Finalist Scholarship
  • $100 Pfizer Top Young Scientist Award Scholarship

 

Aaradhya Diwan - CHS sophomore

His project: Food for the 'senses': Eat it or Leave it?

Won the following awards:

  • $100 Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics of St. Louis Scholarship Award
  • $200 Bayer Scholarship of Excellence Award
  • $100 Pfizer Top Young Scientist Scholarship Award

 

Jessie Lin - CHS sophomore; Samuel Fehr - CHS junior 11; John Wang - CHS senior

Their project: Sagebrush Cricket Mating Status & The Terminal Investment Hypothesis

Won the following awards:

  • A Blue Ribbon for Outstanding Achievement Innovation & Creativity
  • Bayer Outstanding Young Scientists Award
  • Pfizer Top Young Scientists Awards
