Voters Approve Proposition O for School Facility Improvements

April 7, 2026 Thank You Voters Prop O Logo

Based on preliminary election results, voters in the School District of Clayton overwhelmingly approved Proposition O with 89.24% support. The bond referendum will fund critical facility improvements across the District without increasing the current property tax rate. Seniors enrolled in the property tax freeze program will not see an increase in taxes on their primary residence.

With the passage of Prop O, the District will move forward with the following priority projects:

  • Full renovation of Glenridge Elementary School
  • Construction of a flexible Learning Lab at Clayton High School
  • Modernization of the Gay Field Athletic Complex to enhance safety and accessibility

“These investments reflect our community’s strong commitment to maintaining high-quality learning environments for all students,” said Superintendent Dr. Nisha Patel. “We are grateful to our community for its support and trust in our schools. We look forward to completing the Prop O projects to address critical facility needs and ensure our students learn in safe, modern and adaptable spaces now and into the future.”

Two years ago, the District began a Long-Range Facilities Master Planning Process to ensure its schools and athletic facilities continue to meet the needs of today’s students while supporting future excellence. Shaped by community input and expert review, the process identified approximately $240 million in upgrades needed to align facilities with the premier learning experiences already taking place in Clayton’s classrooms and on its fields.

To remain fiscally responsible without increasing the current tax rate, the Board of Education committed to a phased approach that prioritizes the most urgent needs first. Prop O represents Phase I of this long-term plan. The projects included in Prop O are designed to address current infrastructure needs while preparing schools for future generations of learners.
