Clayton Recognizes School Counselors

School Counselor Appreciation Week

The School District of Clayton is proud to recognize the contributions of its school counseling team during National School Counseling Week, Feb. 2–6. Each day, counselors support students from preschool through high school, playing an essential role across the District’s school community.

Self-actualization, as reflected in the Profile of a Clayton Graduate, is not achieved alone. It is the result of a journey supported by adults who help nurture the physical, social and emotional foundations for growth. Clayton’s school counselors are critical to this work, supporting students’ academic, social-emotional and developmental needs. They help students build resilience, navigate peer relationships, manage challenges and develop strategies for learning and growth.

Counselors also guide students through academic planning, course selection, graduation requirements and transitions between schools. At the secondary level, they support college and career readiness through postsecondary planning, testing coordination and preparation for life beyond graduation. At all levels, school counselors provide critical social-emotional support, crisis response and short-term counseling for students experiencing stress, loss or significant life events. Balancing complex demands, they serve with professionalism, compassion and a strong commitment to equity and student well-being.

While much of their work happens behind the scenes, its impact is felt throughout the District. Please join us in thanking Clayton’s school counseling staff for their dedication and service!
