CHS Students Achieve Top Honors in National Merit Scholarship Program

CHS logo

Each year, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation conducts one of the country’s most respected academic competitions, recognizing high-achieving students nationwide. The process begins with the PSAT, taken during a student’s junior year, through which top performers are named Commended Students or advance to Semifinalist status. Semifinalists then undergo a review of their academic records and detailed applications to determine eligibility for Finalist standing, competing for approximately $50 million in scholarships to be awarded next spring.

This year, Clayton High School is proud to announce that nine students have been named Semifinalists and 11 students have earned Commended status. Together, these 20 students represent more than 10 percent of the current CHS senior class.

The Clayton Board of Education honored the students during its meeting on Dec. 10. Surrounded by families, the students received certificates recognizing their academic achievements.

The District is proud to celebrate its National Merit Semifinalists and Commended Scholars.
