April 7 Election: What to Know About Prop O and Voting

Prop O Logo

On Tuesday, April 7, residents of the School District of Clayton will decide on Proposition O, a $135 million zero-tax-rate-increase bond referendum. If approved, funds would support an initial phase of facility improvements identified through the District’s Long-Range Facilities Master Plan, including:

  • The full renovation of Glenridge Elementary School to better support student learning. While routine maintenance has kept the 97-year-old building operational, many core systems are reaching the end of their useful life and require investment to ensure the facility continues to meet current and future needs.
  • Construction of a flexible Learning Lab at Clayton High School to support hands-on experiences in engineering, robotics, applied math and entrepreneurship.
  • Upgrades to the Gay Field Athletic Complex to improve safety, accessibility and community use. The turf has reached the end of its usable life, and the field house, press box, stands and parking areas no longer adequately support the many student-athletes, teams and events that rely on the facility.

Key Facts

  • Approving Prop O will not increase the tax rate.
  • Regardless of the outcome of the election, seniors enrolled in the Property Tax Freeze Program will continue paying the same amount on their primary residence.
