In order to achieve Educational Equity for all students in the School District of Clayton we will focus on the following:

1. Student, Community, and Family Engagement
2. Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
3. Hiring and Staffing Practices
4. Professional Learning and Growth
5. Distribution of Resources
6. Institutional Structures

The School District of Clayton strives to be humanistic in its approach to Educational Equity, while still understanding the importance of quantitative and qualitative data in its journey. As such, we commit to review disaggregated data that includes, but is not limited to - race, color, religion, socioeconomic status, gender, national origin, ancestry, disability, age, genetic information, or other personal characteristics. The School District of Clayton will review said data on an annual basis as a part of program evaluations, equity audits, and Strategic Plan updates. The School District of Clayton will examine the data in the above categories to identify areas of potential inequity and to monitor future progress toward greater Educational Equity.

The disaggregated data may include, but is not limited to, the following:

2. Focus Groups and other Qualitative Resources
3. Student, Family, and Community Engagement Activities
4. Students Referred for Interventions and Special Education
5. Gifted Screening and Identification
6. Honors, Dual Credit and AP Classes

9. Staff Hiring, Retention and Promotions
10. Building and Course Staffing 

The School District of Clayton is committed to the success of every student and to providing learning environments where personal characteristics do not limit opportunity or achievement. Fulfilling this commitment requires recognizing and addressing institutional barriers—including racism and bias—that contribute to inequitable educational outcomes.

Educational Equity in Clayton is achieved through the intentional development, implementation and evaluation of policies, systems and practices that shape student experiences, access to resources and outcomes. Guided by Equity Literacy—the skills and knowledge necessary to identify, disrupt and eliminate inequities—the following policies establish the framework through which the District advances educational equity and accountability across all schools and departments.

Hosted by Clayton High School's Black Student Union, the Annual Celebration of Black Achievement brings together students, staff, alumni and community members to honor the achievements and lasting contributions of Black alumni. Held in recognition of Black History Month, the annual event highlights the District’s commitment to celebrating excellence, amplifying alumni voices and inspiring current students through representation and connection.
