• Volunteer Background Checks
    Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Meramec Elementary.  Within the District, student safety (both physical and emotional) is a priority.  As part of an ongoing effort to protect and provide the safest environment for the students we serve, the District has begun requiring training and background checks each year on all volunteers who will be performing tasks that could put them in close and unsupervised contact with students. Our purpose is to assure parents and the community that our students are safe while at school. This process needs to be completed by all volunteers each school year.  Click here to begin the Volunteer Enrollment and Training process.

    Meramec PTO Positions & Committees
    If you are interested in any of the below positions, please contact the current President.
    President: Runs the PTO meetings held monthly.  Coordinates volunteers across school. Liaisons with school principal, and administration where necessary. Makes budget decisions together with Board.
    President Elect:  Assists President first year, then is President of PTO second year. Runs PTO meetings and any other meetings when President is absent.   Coordinates volunteers and helps with budget decisions.
    PTO Council Rep:  Past President of PTO.  Attends all PTO Council meetings held monthly, and updates Meramec PTO on those meetings.  Provides advice and counsel to PTO President.  Runs Open House in September on behalf of PTO.
    Secretary:  Takes minutes at monthly meetings.  Ensures minutes are issued and posted to website no later than one week after meeting.  Assists with important votes for spending priorities.
    Treasurer:  Manages bank account for PTO.  Deposits checks, issues checks for payment, issues reimbursements to PTO members, collects dues.  Attends monthly meetings and reports on financial situation.  Budget summary is provided to President monthly.
    Communications Helps ensure consistent and clear communication to greater school community by assisting volunteers with creating electronic communications, using the monthly Meramec Current newsletter, and various email blasts throughout the month.  Also coordinates use of google checkout where appropriate.

    Chair people Positions:

    Yearbook: (Two). Manage the relationship with the Yearbook publisher.  Coordinate photographers at school to take numerous individual and group pictures for yearbook.  Coordinate with room parents for candids to be taken of important events for each class all year long.  Responsible for computer based layout, editing, and submission of proofs to yearbook company.  Collect money from parents for yearbooks and distribute them.

    Movie Night: (Two) Run the annual movie night held at school on a Friday night in September.  Choose movie, movie projector company.  Manage concessions and publicize event at school.  This is a free event for school families.

    Book fair:  (Multiple) Manage the week long Scholastic book fair held in the fall.  Run the volunteer schedule for the week's activities, including cash register, evening poetry night, daytime special events, etc during the Literacy Week.  Publicize the event(s) through communications person.

    Teacher Appreciation:  Run multiple staff dinners and breakfasts- two in fall and two in spring to thank our staff.  Coordinate teacher gifts at Holiday time and end of year.  Work with Community Outreach (Helping Hands) to arrange other appreciation events
