Mr. Roberts

I was raised in University City and graduated from its high school in 2005. I studied philosophy and religion initially at Truman State University and the University of Missouri at St. Louis. Thereafter, I studied psychology for three years at Webster University. In 2014, I earned my Master's degree in teaching from Webster University, specializing in social studies. I've also spent a great deal of time studying how students learn, how they express themselves, and how they read.

For as long as I can recall, I've wanted to be a teacher. My grandfather was my role model, and I was always proud of the reputation he gained as a professor at Washington University. One of my hobbies is to read nonfiction and learn new things, and I learn best by teaching what I've learned to others. That makes teaching a perfect career for me.

In 2015, I started as a substitute teacher in the Clayton School District. I worked at the high school and at Wydown Middle School for two years. Before that, I had been a substitute teacher at University City High School (where I completed my student teaching in 2014 [and where I graduated in 2005!]). After working as a Literacy Intern at Wydown for the better part of the fourth quarter of 2016-17, I became the Learning Center's English specialist for 2017-18.

I believe all students can demonstrate their intelligence when given the opportunity. I believe all students want to do their best. I believe that while the definition of academic success may vary from person to person, it is my job to make sure every student I meet obtains it. Most of all, I believe learning is fun, fulfilling, and valuable.
