Family Center Welcomes Clayton Firefighters
Family Center students had fun learning about fire safety during the Clayton Fire Department’s visit on Monday, Oct. 24. Firefighters talked with students about having a safe place outside of their house to meet their family in case of a fire, and with help from a student volunteer, showed them how to stop, drop and roll if their clothing catches on fire. Students also had the opportunity to high-five Blaze, the department’s Dalmatian mascot, before viewing the different tools found on the fire truck.
The department’s visit ended with one of the firefighters dressing in his full turnout gear, complete with an oxygen mask, so the students could see what a firefighter would look like if the student needed to be rescued in a house fire.
