Innovation, Teamwork Keep Eggs Safe During Egg Drop Challenge
Wydown Middle School sixth-graders used their creativity and innovative ideas to provide an egg with a safe landing during the Egg Drop Challenge held in the first week of school. This annual beginning-of-the-year activity required students to work with their teammates to design and build a container that would keep the egg from cracking when it was dropped from the school’s second-floor library balcony onto the concrete patio below. The activity not only taught students about engineering and the importance of working together to create an optimal outcome, but it also helped the sixth-graders get to know their new classmates.
