  • Residential Tax Rate Decreases

    The School District of Clayton’s Board of Education approved the 2017 tax rate at its Sept. 27 meeting. The residential rate will decrease from $3.8423 to $3.6494, while the commercial rate will fall from $4.3583 to $4.1682. Click the headline to learn more.

  • MAP Assessment Score Reports Available

    The MAP grade-level assessment score reports have been released by DESE. Students in third through fifth grade, who attended a Clayton school during the 2016-2017 school year, will receive their score report at their home address. Reports will be mailed by July 31, 2017.

  • Ralph M. Captain Elementary School is a community-based, open-concept school that serves five distinct neighborhoods: Concordia Seminary, Demun, Hillcrest, Richmond Heights and St. Louis City. The students of Captain Elementary are the heart of our school community.  Students with a variety of different needs, interests, cultural heritages and learning styles make up the rich tapestry of Captain.

    Captain’s staff members foster a caring, supportive learning environment where all children embrace challenges, think critically and persevere to reach high levels of learning. While maintaining small class sizes, teachers work deliberately to implement the rich, challenging Clayton curriculum. All teachers differentiate learning activities for students to accommodate unique learning needs. Captain’s staff members are vibrant, energetic, diverse and constantly seeking to improve what they do for students.

    Captain parents value the diversity, high expectations and rich learning experiences available to all children in the school community. Working together, Captain parents and staff aim to achieve excellence by building community and by providing for the diverse needs of each student.
